Question: What is the difference between listing someone as the Certificate Holder versus having them as the Additional Insured?
Answer: Certificate Holder is simply proof of insurance, whereas Additional Insured status gives the main contractor/contract coverage and rights under their subcontractor’s or vendor’s, the “Name Insured” policy. Because Supply Patriot excluded “Products Completed” from our policy, the policy essentially became a Business Office Policy so will not extend liability to any other entity (except our Landlord) for any claims arising out of our products or completed operations. This is where the “Additional Insured” status comes in, along with the other endorsements that may be requested: Primary/Non-Contributory, Waiver of Subrogation, etc.
Question: Why is “Products Completed” not included on Supply Patriot’s policy?
Answer: The reason “Products Completed” has been excluded from our policy is because Supply Patriot acts as the distributor and is not a performing contractor.
